Vice President of Marketing & Environmental Programs for Commonwealth Edison, Mr. Val Jensen
Chicago State University President, Dr. Frank G. Pogue

CAET would like to thank everyone, from the presenters and attendees to our keynote speaker, Mr. Val Jensen, for helping to make the 2nd annual AES 2008 a success.

In addition to Com Ed’s participation in this year’s event, we would like to also thank the representatives from the various local and state government officials who also attended, including representatives from the offices of Sen. Barak Obama, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. The continued support from our government officials goes a long way to help raise awareness to the importance of the work presented at our event.

We sincerely hope that AES 2008 met or exceeded your expectations and exposed you to the important alternative energy developments that are occurring, not only here in the Midwest, but throughout the country.

With the continued support and participation of all the attendees, speakers, as well as city and state officials, we aim to continue to improve the symposium to provide an effective forum for the discussion of not only the technical and scientific aspects of alternative energy technology, but also the applications and impacts of such technology to homes and communities around the globe.

Alternative Energy Symposium 2007

The 1st CAET Symposium was held on August 9-10, 2007, at the New Library Building on the beautiful Chicago State University campus. The areas of focus included fuel cell, hydrogen (generation, separation, and storage), solar cell, wind turbine, and bio-fuel technologies.

Leading scientists and engineers from around the world, including China, India, France, Canada, the U.K., as well as the U.S. contributed to the symposium. Activities included technical sessions and panel discussions focusing on the research and development of processes and materials for cost effective, real world energy production from alternative sources.

The event kicked off with CSU President, Dr. Elnora D. Daniel,
followed by the keynote speaker, Commonwealth Edison CEO,
Mr. Frank Clark.

Mr. Clark discussed his views on the future of energy generation and consumption and how Com Ed expects to meet future energy needs.
